Authentic Japanese Samurai Katana from the Edo period (approximately 300–400 years old), complete with traditional koshirae and genuine NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai) Hozon authentication papers issued in Japan in 2004.
The blade is attributed to the respected Harima Province swordsmith Kaneshige (金重). The tang was traditionally shortened (suriage), with the remaining signature officially recognised and authenticated by the NBTHK. The certificate confirms the blade as worthy of preservation.

An authentic Japanese Samurai Wakizashi from the Edo period (approx. 300–400 years old), attributed to Sakushū Tsuyama-jū Kanesaki, complete with traditional koshirae, matching shirasaya with wooden tsunagi, and an extremely rare saw blade kozuka.
Officially authenticated by the NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai), Japan’s leading sword authentication authority, and awarded the prestigious Tokubetsu Hozon Token (“Especially Worthy of Preservation”) in 2021. This higher-level certification confirms the sword’s authenticity, recognised swordsmith attribution and historical importance.
The blade retains its original signed (ubu) tang, a highly desirable feature for collectors, and comes from a long-held private New Zealand collection.
